Hey friends! It’s your girl Leah back again—but this time on the blog! If you’ve been scrolling the Ywigs website trying to figure out which human hair crochet style actually looks good on a real head, this post is for you.
I recently ranked every Ywigs human hair crochet style I’ve tried—from the ones I liked least (but still liked!) to my absolute top favorite. And no, this post isn’t sponsored. Just me, sharing my honest experience to help you pick the right hair for you.
How I Judge My Crochet Hair
Before jumping in, a little context—I don’t think Ywigs has a bad product. I’ve liked every style I’ve tried so far. But everyone has preferences. For me, I’m a lazy girl who loves curls.
That means:
No heat tools if I can help it.
Big, curly textures over straighter styles.
Easy “pineapple-and-go” hair I don’t have to maintain every morning.
So when you see something ranked lower, it’s not because it’s bad—it just doesn’t fit my personal style or routine.
4️⃣ Loose Deep Wave (Bottom of the List, But Still Cute)
Let’s start with the Loose Deep Wave. It’s not a bad style at all—it’s actually really soft and natural-looking.
The only reason it’s last on my list is because I’m just not a wave girl. It’s closer to a straight texture than I prefer. I like a style that gives curl and volume without needing to pull out a flat iron.
If you’re into sleek, low-maintenance waves that you can straighten or style easily, this one’s for you. Just not my personal favorite vibe.
3️⃣ Water Deep Wave
Next up—the Water Deep Wave, which I actually have installed right now. I’ve only worn it for two weeks, but here’s what I think so far:
It’s short for an 18-inch style, but it gives a nice, versatile look. You can rock it curly or let it stretch out into a softer wave depending on how you style or wash it.
I also added a little ombré color for some razzle-dazzle, and it held up beautifully. My only con? I wish it were longer. Otherwise, it’s a cute everyday look that still fits my curly-girl lifestyle.
2️⃣ Water Wave
Now we’re getting to the styles I love. The Water Wave is everything. Don’t be fooled by the name—it’s not really a wave. It’s a spiral curl that gives a natural 3B-type texture.
If you’re familiar with synthetic styles like Freetress Beach Curl, this curl pattern gives that same bouncy, natural vibe—just in 100% human hair.
There are no drawbacks associated with this style. It’s easy, soft, and looks like real curls. Honestly, Ywigs might want to rename this one “Water Curl” because it’s a full-on curl pattern, not a wave.
1️⃣ Water Curly (My #1 Favorite!)
The Water Curly is my absolute favorite. This hair was perfection from install to takedown. I wore it for eight weeks straight—the longest I’ve ever kept a crochet style in.
What makes it special is the curl pattern. It starts looser at the top and gets tighter toward the ends, which gives it a natural, realistic look. It doesn’t have that “too uniform” curl pattern—it mimics real textured hair.
It also holds up to color and weekly wear without losing bounce. If you want a style that looks natural, lasts long, and requires minimal maintenance, Water Curly is the one to get.
Why I Stick With Ywigs
Some of y’all ask why I don’t try other brands like Hot Braids, YG Wigs, or QVR. Simple—I want to build a solid Ywigs catalog for you to trust.
There are plenty of people reviewing random Amazon wigs, but I want my channel (and blog) to be the place you go when you want real results from real installs. Ywigs has consistently good quality, ethical practices, and hair that performs well over time.
That’s why I keep coming back.
What’s Next
Right now I’ve only tested four Ywigs human hair crochet styles, but new ones are coming—especially as we move into the fall and winter “straighter hair” season. I’ll try some pressed-out and silkier looks next (even though y’all know I’ll always be a curly girl at heart).
If there’s a Ywigs style you want to see next, drop it in the comments or DM me on Instagram. Let me be that test head for you so you can shop confidently.
Conclusion
Every Ywigs human hair crochet style I’ve tried has been great quality. It just depends on what kind of look you love:
Want sleek? Go Loose Deep Wave.
Want soft curls? Try Water Deep Wave.
Want natural curls that last? Choose Water Wave.
Want full-on curly perfection? Water Curly is the one.
If you like low-effort, natural-looking curls that make you feel confident every day, Water Curly is the ultimate winner.
